All you need to do is play the game and pay attention to whats happening. If you are easily frustrated and have a low treshold for spending effort then chances are you ll never realize what kind of a game Endless Space is. Prior experience in 4x as well as a thicker hide when it comes to the learning process are assets in Endless Space. Reading "essays" as you put it certainly helps but its not a requirement. I guess its safe to say that todays generation isnt used to games which doesnt help them along but drop them into the fray without much assistance. The overall majority of the reviews sides with the positive side and IMO most of the negative reviews can be easily disregarded due to cusswords or pure venting vitriol and overall agressiveness from the author whenever someone "dares" to correct them. One review describes it as "fantastic" the other says its a POS. Whats becoming very obvious is that reviews often are extreme opposites in what they express. Sad thing for me about ES2 is that some great ES factions were either made minors or removed and there aren't enough factions now to even fill up a large game. But once you figure it out its a breeze.Īnother reason for bad reviews might be that it has ES2 to compete with now, which has a much more in depth immersive feel. The hard part part is, like people said, it throws a lot of stuff at you at the beginning and not a great tutorial. I find the game pretty easy, somewhat too predictable now. I hadn't played for nearly a year, and now the tech tree and some of the combat rules seem to be very changed. To me at least.Įdit: just to clarify, I never actually experienced many of the bugs specific to penumbra DLC itself. Overall its not something that I can easily recommend because there are real issues to be had with it, but none of it super dire. Though one of my favorite things is the new science techs that really make gas giants highly coveted in my systems. I have a friend I play with who 100% falls into that category.

I've gotten to learn about hacking through multiple play-through's with trial and error so i'm pretty comfortable with it, but some people just don't like i. Additionally, complaints over the lack of information/feedback have attempted to be addressed, but I feel that a combination of bugs, UI glitches and so on left many with a bad taste in their mouth. While I enjoy them, UC can be a bit boring to play due to they lack of presence on the board, so that can clearly be a turn off for most. Like you say most complaints were about the mechanic itself which aren't unfounded.
